Evaluation Engine
equip’s® Universal Rater evaluation engine is a Microsoft .Net® web service. This allows it to be easily used by any existing policy processing or quoting system. The web service requires an input XML stream, unique by line of business, then returns the same XML stream with premiums, class codes and other calculated entities filled in. Rating a policy consists of creating the input XML stream, calling the web service, and populating the host database with the returned values.
Rate Maintenance
Maintenance of rates and algorithms is web-based. All algorithms are entered into web pages that allow the user to define the steps and calculations needed to rate a particular line of business. All rates and algorithms are stored in a Microsoft SQL Server® database for access by the evaluation engine. Maintenance of the rates is user-friendly and available to anyone with a knowledge of the steps necessary to rate a policy. Rates are entered into tables, and can also be imported from Excel spreadsheets. Rates and Algorithms can be copied from one line of business to another, and also between versions of rates for greater flexibility.
